Signed Wolves shirt winner announced

The winner of a signed Wolverhampton Wanderers football shirt has been announced and has collected her prize.

The signed shirt was donated by Wolves as an incentive to encourage people to get their Covid-19 vaccination whilst the vaccine bus was at Molineux Stadium in early July.

Shimi Latif, from Penn, visited the bus in July for her second dose of the vaccine, and was one of over 300 people who were entered into the draw after having a jab there.

Whilst the bus was back at Molineux last week, Shimi collected her signed shirt. She said: “This is a lovely surprise. I am overwhelmed to be the proud owner of the signed Wolves shirt.

“This was an excellent initiative by the City of Wolverhampton Council, NHS and the Wolves team, targeting harder to reach communities to promote Covid-19 vaccination. It was an easy and quick process with friendly staff. Thank you all so much.”

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “We’d like to thank Wolves for the kind donation of the signed shirt and for supporting the vaccine rollout in our city.

“Bringing the bus to Molineux was a great success and has helped more people get access to the life-saving vaccine and get protected from the serious illness that coronavirus can cause.”

“Although we can’t give everyone a signed shirt, I would encourage anyone aged 16 or over who has not yet had their Covid-19 vaccine to do so as soon as they can. Walk-in vaccination clinics are open around the city, so go online, or check our social media, to find one near you.”
