New Tamworth Strategic Partnership launched

New partnership launched to support Tamworth residents Partners included health and social care, fire and police services, voluntary and faith groups Aim to work even more closely to improve the borough and the lives of residents

Tamworth Borough Council welcomed partners from all sectors on Tuesday 10 September to launch the new Tamworth Strategic Partnership.

The Tamworth Strategic Partnership will work to improve the borough and the quality of life for residents. Bringing together representatives from health and social care, Staffordshire police, fire and rescue, public health partners and faith and voluntary groups, the partnership will work together to build a better Tamworth for all..

During this first meeting, the council shared common goals and emerging priorities, plus feedback from the recent corporate plan consultation, where residents shared much wider issues than the council can tackle alone.

The main aims of the working group are to share ideas, facilitate support and welfare for the community and work more co-operatively for the people of Tamworth.

 This will include plans to:

• Increase collaborative working between organisations

• Develop and facilitate the creation of early and earliest help in the community

• Tackle the causes of wider impacts on health and wellbeing

The partnership agreed to meet again later this year to put actions and plans in place that will support residents’ health and wellbeing, children and families, sustainability, community safety, employment and skills development and town centre partnerships, working towards making Tamworth ‘better together’.

Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, Carol Dean, said: “The event launched the beginning of a new collaboration with all local services to build a better Tamworth.

While we already work in partnership with these agencies, this is a first step in working even more co-operatively for the people of Tamworth. We recognise there are many people in our communities that need support, and by working better together we can really use all our resources where they are needed to most.

“This alliance as the Tamworth Strategic Partnership will draw on the experience and resource from partners best placed to deliver services and support. Together we are stronger and together we can provide help at early stages for everyone.”
