Mayor of Walsall to raise flag to mark Armed Forces Day 2024

On Monday 24 June 2024, Walsall Council will be raising the Armed Forces Flag to mark the annual Armed Forces Day.

The ceremony which will begin at 10.30am will be led by the Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Anthony Harris, who will raise the flag in a short service to recognise and celebrate the unwavering dedication of the men and women who currently serve and have served in His Majesty's Armed Forces.

The Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Anthony Harris, said, "It is an honour to raise the Armed Forces flag and recognise the brave men, women, cadets, serving troops reserves and veterans who serve our great country. 

"I am looking forward to this ceremony because it is an important way for us to show our gratitude and appreciation for their service and sacrifice."

The ceremony will be attended by a number of dignitaries, including Deputy Lieutenant David Frost CBE DL, the Mayoress Christina Harris, Deputy Mayor Councillor Louise Harrison, Mayor's Cadet, representatives of veterans' associations, local organisations, and staff from Walsall Council and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. 

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend the ceremony and show their support for the Armed Forces.
